Over the past several years, we at Seoul Law Group have received a growing number of heartfelt inquiries from individuals in crisis, people who have suffered from medical malpractice, industrial/workplace injuries, or sexual violence. Many of these individuals are foreign nationals or members of vulnerable communities, and they’ve come to us seeking legal protection, accountability, and a path forward.

While we have always strived to listen and offer as much guidance as possible, our firm operates on an hourly billing structure. In order to maintain fairness across all client matters and manage our internal resources responsibly, we have traditionally required a standard retainer fee to begin legal services — a policy that, unfortunately, has made it difficult to take on certain cases where the victims were in financial distress.

But as the volume of these cases continues to increase, we’ve come to a painful realization: too many victims are left without access to justice simply because they cannot afford to retain legal counsel upfront. Their pain deepens, their hope diminishes, and their legal rights quietly slip away.

We believe this is not acceptable.

After thoughtful internal discussion and a deep reflection on our values, we have made a decision to take action.

A New Path Forward for Victims in Need

Starting now, Seoul Law Group will introduce a special flexible billing program for three specific categories of cases:

  1. Victims of Medical Malpractice
  2. Victims of Workplace or Industrial Accidents
  3. Victims of Sexual Crimes

For clients facing significant financial hardship in these categories, we will offer a low initial retainer, followed by a contingency-based arrangement that defers the majority of legal fees until after the case is resolved. In other words:

Why We’re Doing This

Because justice should not be reserved for those who can afford it.

We are not a large firm, but we are a dedicated one. Our decision stems from a simple but powerful belief: legal advocacy must be rooted in empathy, fairness, and access — not only in business metrics.

We know this initiative will not solve every problem, but we hope it opens the door for those who have been waiting silently, those who have suffered alone, and those who feared that justice was simply out of reach.
