Family Law
We assist with Korean family registration and personal status matters, including overseas adoption, acknowledgment of parentage, birth reports, death reports, marriage records, and corrections to inaccurate Korean family records. We help clients correct records that do not reflect the facts and navigate Korean procedures for family-related matters with an international element.
“These things happen. We are here for you.”
Divorce
Divorce can be done in two ways: by the mutual agreement, or by the trial. It might be best if the spouses can settle it amicably, but if one of the spouses does not agree to get divorced, the case should be taken to the court and the divorce would not be granted without proper grounds listed in the law. Our attorneys have various experiences for both demanding and rejecting divorce.
Property division
Property division is one of the most important and also the most time-consuming part of divorce: every account, every real estate, every asset should be reviewed whether they are objects of division or not, the division ratio should be settled, and there’s also the matter of “who would take which property.” This tiring process can be handled much more efficiently when a capable lawyer is on your side.
Custody and Child Support
It gets especially complicated when there is a child involved. It should be decided which of the parents would raise the child, when and where would the “other parent” visit the child, and how much would be paid for child support. Lawyers of both parties become quite busy contacting each other to properly settle these issues.
Adultery and Compensation
There might be three different cases you might get involved in adultery. One, you cheated on your spouse and you need to compensate, two, your spouse cheated on you and you need to be compensated, and three, you had intercourse with someone while they were already married and now their spouse is demanding your compensation. Fear not, for our attorneys are ready for all three cases.
